After more than 2 months of hard work in English 2010 I feel I have developed enough skills to persuade an audience. All the genres were really interesting to work with, but looking at my most recent paper, the review paper, I think thru this class I have developed good organization, good citations, and critical argumentation. Another assignment that I really enjoyed doing was the poster because I needed all my creativity to do it. My process to complete each assignment was to define the topic that I wanted to use, write a brain storm around it, review the format of the genre that needed to be done, and finally start to create the paper based on my investigations and brain storm. The pictures and images I always added at the end to make sure they were appropriate and supported the result of my paper. When doing my assignments one of the biggest challenges was to adapt and understand the different genres because I usually like to be critical and have an opinion about what I’m writing. Since I’m always used the regular academic essay introduction—thesis—arguments—and conclusions—going out of this academic format was really hard to do. Also some of the times I was not quite getting the ideal organization, so I needed to go back and rearrange the format. Therefore the report was the most challenging because of the nature of the paper. It was difficult to keep my opinions and emotions out of the writing. I decided to pick my Review, Position/Proposal, and my Poster because they are the reflection of my improvement in this semester. Each one of this papers show my creativity, strong argumentation, critical thinking, and strategic organization that is needed to successfully approach different types of audiences. The assignments I’m presenting in this page show my growth and progression thru this class. I have improved with each revision I have done and have learned from the feedback my peers and my teacher have sent me on how I can improve in my writing. |
